Fear…”let’s not go there. Let’s not talk about this.”

Oh, I know you’d rather not, but let’s look at it.

I know that fear arises when change becomes a possibility. And the closer change gets, the stronger fear becomes.

But how much power are you willing to give the fear? How much of your life has been led by fear?

I hear of people frustrated with their life and how they wish for it to change. Many sit in their apartment/house and wait for someone to save them. Or they plan on writing a book or creating a product (or win the lottery) that will make millions overnight and solve all of their problems. The magical soul mate will find them. The problems will take care of themselves. God/Universe/Divine/Source/Life will answer our prayers. Meanwhile, days pass, years pass and nothing has changed.

Then, an opportunity for change occurs and fear shows up. This is often the time when life starts not seeming too bad. You may get a little extra money and you think, yeah, things are changing. It’s OK. Your partner starts paying a little more attention to you, so it must be improving. You’re not so anxious or depressed so things are looking up. The opportunity passes by untouched. Things are OK for a few weeks and then slowly, you find your life returning to the way it was. The cycle begins again.

At what point does the pain get so strong that you say, “Screw you!” to the fear? At what point do you realize you deserve to be happy and you can be happy? At what point do you put an end to the cycle?

The choice has and always is yours.

Yes, you need to think about what you desire. Create a vision board, imagine the life you want, say affirmations. But the other very important piece is change–aka ACTION.

If you stay the way you are, same beliefs, same wounds, same patterns, how can your life change? If you stay in your house and never go out, how can you expect to meet someone?

There are times when things happen almost miraculously, but how often does that occur and how much time has passed waiting for it?

Do you really want to see yourself in the same position 6 months from now? 3 months? 1 month?

Change takes time and it won’t be exactly as you desire at the snap of a finger, but you can start today. Today, do one thing differently. If you normally get home from work and sit on the couch and watch TV, go for a walk outside instead. If you yell at your kids in frustration, walk away for a minute and take a few deep breaths. If you eat a lot of sweets and fast food, eat fresh vegetables. Change something!
