Instinct vs. Ego: The Battle Within
I’ve been feeling it. Many of my close friends have been feeling it. Energy healers and astrologers have been warning us about it. Have you been feeling it?
It’s intense stress. Out of nowhere overcome with overwhelm.
We are in a period of transition. The month of December is preparing us for the new year. The old is transforming into the new. This shifting naturally triggers the ego. Ego desires keeping life the same, familiar and known. Our Soul instinct is to evolve.
Ego and instinct battle it out.
This battle is the source of our stress and discomfort. We want to move forward but our ego is pleading “What if”. Our fears and doubts creep in and we halt moving forward. Instinct is stymied and our Soul is frustrated. Soul wonders why we aren’t getting anywhere. It’s not natural to keep doing as we’ve always done.
Our chance of Soul survival decreases the longer we stay in the past. Huh?
Think of an area of your life where you’ve been (or had been) living a past story for a long time. Maybe it’s a physical illness or injury that has lasted for years or a series of abusive relationships. Look at all the areas of your life that were affected. Look at how draining the illness became on you over time. Look how isolated you became from those close to you.
Oh, let’s look at a job that was safe but did not feed your Soul. You may have noticed your life force slowly dying inside. You probably even said it at some point (or maybe it was a slow progression and someone else pointed out you were not your usual self.) The moment you decided to quit that job and the moment you actually left the job were the most alive you felt in a long time! And then you realize how unhappy you had been.
The point is our Souls desire alignment, which requires change. The deeper we go within, the greater the change required to align. At first. Over time the change becomes natural and we seem to move through it with greater ease. The key is resistance and how much of it we are holding.
What does that mean for the stress right now? Recognize that our ego wants to stay in the past. The tension, stress and fears are attempting to keep us there. But our natural desire is to move forward. We’re here to learn and evolve. We’re not satisfied otherwise. The best thing we can do right now is to stop clinging to the shore banks and allow the currents to sweep us to our next destination. The struggle will only prolong the battle and wear us down physically. Surrendering and letting go to the natural process will create a smoother and more enjoyable ride.
This type of stress signals shifting and transformation which means you are headed to a new space with new opportunities and possibilities. It’s the opportunity to experience even greater than what you’ve known.
It’s up to you to decide if you’re going to fight it or let it flow like water.
Ever hear the Mark Twain quote, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”? For any aspect of our lives to transform, we have to do something different. Albert Einstein says, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result.”
The current energy is already supporting transformation. Why not ride the wave and go with it?
What patterns in your life do you want to change? Have you been finding yourself putting off doing anything about it? Make a commitment to yourself and those close to you to try something different so you can experience a different result.
